I have some Radium watch handles, they are really neat and they still glow in the dark. I got a whole collection of it. I wanted to get a hold of some polonium sources but i guess i don’t have good contacts, maybe later.
I actually have the actual sample of americium form a smoke detector. I had to buy one and open it up , then i extracted the americium metal from it, and believe me, once you get the gieger counter close to it, it beeps as crazy.
And just think of the watches painted with this stuff back in the day.
I have yet to hit a reading that high on my gammascout.

What brand of smoke detector did you guys buy? All the detectors I’ve seen are the photo type, not radioactive.
Its a little original, let me remember the name. If you check my radiative videos you will notice it. However it detects all kinds of radiation.
