Fantastic stuff, love those Dekatron tubes.
Those mantles sound lethal from my end…ha ha I know absolutely nothing
about this topic, and yet I find both totally fascinating and scary too.
🙂 Great video
Never knew there was something older than Nixie tubes. Great video.
Very nice collections
Thanks for that, good channel of yours, I have been having a look at it.
Cheers, Ian
Glad you liked the Vid, yes Dekatrons are forerunners to Nixies and also
they were used in early computers like “WITCH” computer, good Vids on
youtube on it. They were used as counters in logic systems. Cheers, Ian
Hi Paul, good fun playing with old tech stuff and its interesting to see
that old homeware stuff was sometimes radioactive, things like Uranium
glaze on Fiesta ware plates particularly red ceramic and green Uranium
glassware. Some of that stuff can be quite radioactive especially Radium
glow paint on old watches, clocks and aircraft instruments. Have a great
week!
Thankyou, glad you liked it, cheers, Ian
hmmm i might get one of these see what else i play with is radio active
Kind`a nice 🙂
Amazing video! Thank you!
*Nice old instruments, Decatron & Nixie Valves are awesome!!*
Love the first one! If you have any pictures of the insides it would be
great! Just to satisfy my curiosity
You should really seal that radium dial in a plastic bag. The paint can
powder, flake off, and become airborne, contaminating the area.
